After 2 days and nights (almost 48 hours) Rapscallion was finally sighted, creeping up our driveway. He was still skittish and scared to come close but eventually we managed to lure him back into the house with some treats. A little dusty and with some burrs in his fur but we couldn't be happier! All approximately 10 hours after signing up with LostMyKitty.
When I woke up this morning I was giving in to despair. I felt helpless and hopeless. I didn't know if I'd ever see my cat again and was worried if he was alright on his own out there. But picking myself up out of my funk and singing up for LostMyKitty, trying to be constructive helped me feel like I was trying to take some control of the situation. And that was crucial for my well-being.
I did receive a phone call from a helpful neighbor who got one of the LostMyKitty alerts earlier in the day who spotted an unfamiliar cat who looked similar to my lost boy. I drove down to her place hoping for the best but it turned out to be another tuxedo cat. Still, it helped my own mental state to know that I wasn't completely alone in my search and that others knew what was going on and were trying to help as they could. I'd definitely recommend taking action and trying to be productive when you're dealing with the fear of losing your cat and giving LostMyKitty a try.
